We were celebrating the joint birthday when I heard the dad of the other child speaking to my mother-in-law. “So they’ll see her coming from both sides?” She nodded.
“And it is Sarah for him and Jay for her?” She nodded again.
He tucked his hands into his pockets and rocked back and forth on his feet as though waiting for her to tell him more or for another question to pop into his head.
None came.
He was in luck though because another father came to stand next to him.
“Can you believe all this?,” he asked.
He laughed nervously.
“Yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens. I mean, who would cheat on the blonde, right?”
