Merlin & Lycanthropy

What does Merlin have to do with lycanthropy? In his moniker, Merlin the Wild, one could presume that he was a woodwose.

However, in a 1802 issue of Scots Magazine, it is suggested that Merlin was actually a werewolf.

It also happens to mention my William (Eric). Though he was a foundling of a different royal court and not that of Scotland. Someday perhaps he will detail that story for you.
