Conservation Education
My formal conservation education began in high school. I had originally intended to study Oceanography/Marine Biology and Journalism at UC Santa Cruz, but after a stint at Evergreen, I went on to study Environmental Policy and Journalism at Fairhaven College in Bellingham, WA.
I briefly attended graduate school at Western Washington University and the University of Nevada, Reno. Shortly after I left, the University of Nevada, Reno established both English and Journalism programs with an environmental focus. In fact the entire Journalism program orientated around a conservation lens. Had I been smart, I would have gone back and finished my degree in one of those options.
Both have since been removed from the curriculum.
