Why did Joseph Smith choose the name Nauvoo for his first settlement? Most people say that Smith had no knowledge of ancient Hebrew, and that is likely true. I am not a scholar on Smith or the Mormon Church. However, it is interesting that when follows the Hewbrew alternate spellings/derivatives for Navoo and then inverts/reverses the spelling, it would appear that Smith chose the name quite purposely.

So we see that one variation of Nauvoo could be Naveh (Hevan-or phonetic Heaven). Another possibility is the planet Nibiru. Perhaps Nauvoo refers to a place on that planet, nearby or a people on the planet.
