Members of the Royal Vampiric Guard had typically been werewolves. However, after the uprising, vampyre began to train and learn to defend themselves. While few beings are as formidable as a werewolf, particularly those of Eastern Europe, the Royal Vampiric Guard came to be known as some of the best trained and most ruthless on the planet. They often joined elite military legions, such as those of the Varini and Varangi/Varangian. Sometimes they also became private mercenaries for their houses, enclaves, sects and clans.
