Sydonia von Borck

We have seen a similar-shaped sinister female lurking behind the shoulder of Margarita, Gretchen, and other female historical figures. The misfortune that befell Sydonia in the problems with her love life, the fires in her homes, and the accusations against her might have something to do with this female figure and possibly the two other men whispering in the background.

Clearly the painters of these pictures wanted to expose something going on behind the young women’s backs.

I also find it interesting that her family home was known as the “wolf’s nest.”

And in the painting below she has a cup much like the Grail or that held by the Magdalena.

Also interesting, in the context of The Wizard of Oz, is that her accuser was named Dorothea.
