Frigg & Freyja

Here we have Freya, a goddess described as having many of the attributes of Aphrodite that I detail in The Goddess Aped-including being a goddess of wealth and fortune, as well as divination.

Does this mean Aphrodite and Freya are one-in-the-same? No.

Freya also has a chariot but it is pulled by cats. She does have a girdle like Aphrodite but her reputation for promiscuity is closer to that of Hera. She is said to have thousands of names-much like Isis. But her name also means “lady,” which is very similar to the various other goddesses whose name is more similar to “queen.” Examples are Dionne and Juno. This is how convoluted and confusing the goddess identity issue becomes.
