Along with the similarities in other vampire books, I have found a similarity between my family and the one featured in Discovery of Witches.

I then looked at the other families listed as being featured in the series.

Below I captured the names of people in the family trees of me or my husband that are the same or similar to names of the characters. I did not focus on exact matches since first names are often changed. There were several characters with just first names or known as their last name. As you can see, there are a lot of similarities between character names in the books and relatives in our respective trees. The relationships are noted.
