Growing up on Whidbey, Canadian culture was formative. A huge part of this was their media. Remember, this was before the internet. Outside of albums or cassettes, “alternative” radio was not a thing. The closest we got was college radio from Bellingham or Seattle but those signals were too weak to reach the island. In Seattle I also would listen to C-89 (Dance). But as a kid, most of my radio listening was Brave New Waves. I found a pen pal in Maximum Rock n’ Roll who happened to live in Burlington. She was the first person to tell me about it.
Mine was definitely the Brent Bambury era.
Since Brave New Waves was a weekday show, I would listen to Night Lines on the weekends.
